Sermon Topics

This year, at St. James, we have decided to enter into a Sabbath Year, which means that we will be keeping the teaching/preaching foundational to the Christian way and to Holy Scripture. In the world today, there are all kinds of books and theories about God, creation, Jesus, religion, faith, and new age spirituality. Some of these theories bombard our thinking and may cause doubts. As a result, we decided that in this, our Sabbath Year, we would like to get back to our basics. Therefore, we have chosen sermon topics that we hope and pray will do just that. A brief summary follows:

September What is Sabbath?
October Who is God?
November Why Jesus?
December What is incarnation?
January Relationship & Sin
February Reconciliation/Forgiveness/Redemption
March Child of God/Community
April What does it mean to be a Disciple of Jesus?
May The Holy Spirit and Me
June Mission/Call
