Outreach and Mission

… be gentle and show true humility to everyone. (Titus 3)

Here, Near, and Far

The Outreach Committee develops programs to help the less fortunate here (in the Caledon Community), near (in Ontario and Canada), and far (throughout the world).

Here

  • Visiting those in our parish area who are sick or shut in
  • Providing food and supplies to those in urgent need.
  • Helping with transportation needs as required.
  • Encouraging and welcoming those who are seeking (or just curious) to know more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
  • Offering Sunday Breakfast at 10:00 am

Near

  • Filling a weekly food basket which is taken to “Choices” a shelter for teens. For more information, see Choices for Choices
  • Donating funds for “Caledon Kids” for camping/athletic activities.
  • Decorating an Advent Tree with needed items which then goes to Caledon Community Services.
  • Providing a home for local Seniors’ group
  • Providing a home for local Historical Society and local Bridge Club.
  • Supporting Hospice Caledon by providing space for training purposes and for support groups.
  • Co-sponsor with the local ministerial (group of local clergy of all denominations) of the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast held in May each year.
  • Active members of North Peel Deanery (local Anglican churches) providing quiet days and opportunities for spiritual growth.
  • Supporting local social justice issues, especially housing and human trafficking.

Far

  • Contributing to Faithworks (see www.toronto.anglican.ca) and the Primates World Relief and Development Fund (see www.pwrdf.org) which in turn provides assistance to thousands of men, women and children through a variety of Anglican sponsored organizations.
  • Participating in shipments to our far north including skates and slippers.
  • Sponsoring “Luis”, a 5year old Guatemalan child, through the “Arms of Jesus.” We hope for growing involvement in this mission field with a view to one day going on mission to Guatemala.

Individual members of St. James also support these organizations:

Big Brothers Caledon Kidz Cubs and Scouts
Eastern Star Environmental Groups Friends of the Library
Historical Society Hospice Caledon Hospitals
Just Friends March of Dimes Meals on Wheels
O.G.S Rotary Schools
St. James Pioneer Cemetary
