Dear friends,

The suspension of Sunday worship due to the COVID-19 pandemic is putting significant financial pressure on all churches. This will be a particular challenge for us at St. James for at least two reasons:

  • 40% of our income is derived from the rental of our facility, mainly the day care. The day care is now closed and the other groups who regularly rent our hall are not meeting. Thus we cannot depend on rental income as we usually do.
  • The vast majority of our members give to St. James through envelopes, rather than Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR) or auto-debit.

It is critical at this time that we continue to support St. James' financially. You can do so in one of the following ways:

  1. If you are an envelope user, please mail your post-dated cheques (not cash) to the church (6025 Old Church Road Caledon East, ON L7C 1H8).
  2. Sign-up for pre-authorized giving by emailing our treasurer, Todd Hillhouse (treasurer@stjamescaledoneast.ca)
  3. Todd is also making arrangements for you to be able to give through Interac e-mail money transfer. You can send your transfer to: treasurer@stjamescaledoneast.ca
  4. Donate directly online through CanadaHelps.

No one should feel obliged to maintain their previous level of giving if they are suffering loss of income due to the present crisis, but even in this difficult economic time, some of us may find ourselves able and wanting to give more than we usually do. Please give this request your prayerful consideration.

Please know that we are making every effort to reduce our expenditures at St. James. All thermostats in the building have been set to 16 degrees to save on energy costs. Also, the Diocese is considering how best to offer financial relief to parishes. We will let you know when this announcement is made.

Please be assured of my prayers for you and your loved ones during this extraordinary time.

Peace,

Chris
