Dear Friends,

The Ontario government announced on Thursday that unmonitored personal social gatherings in Toronto, Peel Region and Ottawa will be limited to 10 people indoors and 25 outdoors. Details of the government announcement are here.

It is important to note that the government announcement regarding unmonitored personal social gatherings does not apply to churches and that the Diocese’s guidelines remain unchanged. Worship services will continue to be at 30% capacity of our churches and gatherings such as meetings, programs and Christian education will continue to be permitted at their current limits of 50 people indoors or 100 people outdoors, with appropriate physical distancing.

Please remember that all gatherings, whether for worship, business or social, are subject to physical distancing of at least two metres. Masks must be worn by everyone at any indoor gathering and they are encouraged for outdoor gatherings as well. Serving or sharing refreshments or meals (apart from critical outreach ministries) is currently not permitted in any church.

The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic continues to be a global public health crisis, and we have a part to play in containing the spread of the disease. Vigilance must be maintained to keep transmission rates low. Our care in this matter is truly an act of love toward our neighbour.
