Ready for a little colour and beauty? St. James is offering a different type of Lenten study this year – a program based on the art of Vincent Van Gogh.  The son of a pastor, Van Gogh aspired to be a preacher and missionary until his artistic talent became his life’s work.

The word ‘lent’ represents the days of lengthening light. ‘Vincent Van Gogh and the Beauty of Lent’ examines the light in many forms in an easy-to-follow graphic handbook format. Links will open the art work in all its splendour. Each week a new work of Van Gogh’s art will spark a conversation about an aspect of Christian life. Participants will meet weekly via Zoom beginning on Tuesday, March 8th at 1 pm. to talk about the art and Biblical text.  The program offers simple, powerful practices for self or family development.

For those who would rather use a print version and not partake in the Zoom gatherings, the handbook and printed art works will be available at the Church Office. There is no cost for this program, but registration is required to get the link or the program booklet. Please call the office at 905-584-9635, or email Lori; stjamescaledoneast@toronto.anglican.ca
