A group of volunteers have regularly phoned people on the St. James Parish list during this pandemic year. People were asked how they were feeling and if there was anything the church or Father Chris could help with. In November, the phone volunteers were able to suggest the names of families who might have a difficult time this past Christmas due to pandemic restrictions or personal circumstances.

This resulted in our Christmas Angel initiative. Several parishioners donated money for, or went shopping for, gift bag items to be delivered to families as a sign of support and caring.

In December, members of our congregation once again supported Choices Youth Shelter in Orangeville, the Elizabeth Fry Society and The Brampton Prison Ministry. Due to the pandemic, support was given through cash donations instead of the usual gift bags. Support will be also be given to these three organizations during Lent 2021.

In January  2021, Outreach funds were used to make $500 donations to both the Yonge Street Mission, which helps homeless people in Toronto, and to Caledon Community Services, which is struggling during this pandemic to assist more needy families that usual.
