The Anglican Church of Canada’s 42nd Meeting of General Synod begins on 10 July in Vancouver. This gathering will be a defining moment in the life of our church. Several vitally important matters will be dealt with, including self-determination for Indigenous Anglicans and the election of a new Primate.

But the issue that will receive the most attention will be the second reading of the motion to amend Canon XXI 'On Marriage in the Church' to authorize same-sex marriage.

The result of this vote is impossible to predict at this point. Regardless of the outcome, St. James, Caledon East will continue to be a church where all are welcomed and valued, a place where the reconciling love of Jesus Christ is both proclaimed and embodied.

'No matter what, make room in your heart to love every believer.' (Hebrews 13:1 TPT)
