This is the second in a series of personal updates from members of St. James. Please send your story to Fr. Chris and he will post it to the website and/or send it out in the e-blast. We would all love to hear from you!

Dear friends at St. James – how we miss you! And we miss our beautiful place of worship as well. However, it’s still there, and if we all pull together and help a bit, it will be there again for us.

I’m spending as much time as I can outside.  This might just be the year I get the spring clean-up, weeding and perennial dividing done on time!  Jim has some work remaining, which he does at home, and is enjoying puttering in the garage.  I think we both need to see something creative and positive unfolding each day.  As my garden comes into life I will post photos on Facebook, please feel free to ‘friend request’ me, even if it’s just for the duration.

Thank you to those of you who are thinking about Mom and calling her.  She does not have a computer or smart phone, so is limited to tv and her land-line.  She too has a lovely garden in which to pass the time, and she is nearly finished her spring-cleaning. She takes advantage of the early bird shopping at Foodland where she is able to smile at a few friends, from a distance of course!

Our thoughts are with those of you who are sick and lonely right now.  While introverts (me) are generally fine with isolation, many people (including Jim) are not!  Please keep reaching out to each other.

Covid-19 has given us an opportunity to ‘clean house’ – not only our earthly shelters – but our spiritual and emotional shelters as well.  Time to be rid of the things that don’t work anymore, invest more in the things that do work, like prayer.  Learn, ask, listen…God is with us all.

May the peace of God be with us all.
