Scripture

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!” ~ Psalm 150:1-6

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. ~ John 15:11

Weekend Challenge: Throw a Party!

The Bible is full of one story after another that shows we have very short memories regarding God’s amazing work in our life. In Exodus, God delivers Israel from a brutal empire, and a few short days later, they are complaining about the food and worshipping other gods. The disciples watch Jesus do all kinds of miracles, yet when they get caught in a storm on the sea, they all begin to panic that their boat will sink.

The Bible demonstrates that it is pretty normal for us to forget about all the great stuff God is doing. It also shows that one of the best ways to remember God’s faithfulness is to celebrate what He has done for us. That’s right, we can remember God’s goodness by throwing a party! Over the next week, grab some friends or family, (invite the whole neighborhood if you want) and commemorate something specific that God has done in your life or in the life of someone you love. Be intentional about finding ways to celebrate God’s love! We promise you will discover that these celebrations bring you joy and strength on your journey and will remind you that you serve a faithful God.
